IARD System Frequently Asked Questions - Technical

1. What are the minimum recommended hardware/software configuration requirements in order to use IARD and Web CRD?

This information is posted under the User Info section in IARD and Web CRD. It is also provided on this Site in the 'User Support' section as the link to Recommended Hardware/Software.

2. How do I determine if I have the right version of the recommended browser?

If your Internet Explorer or Netscape browser is not the recommended version, this may cause your computer screen to freeze.

  • First, view the Recommended Configurations by clicking on the Recommended Software/Hardware Icon under User Information on the IARD Site Map.
  • Next, click on the Help file item on your browser.
  • Then click on the item "About." This will list the browser version.

3. When I try to access the User's Manual, a blank screen appears. What should I do?

It may simply be a matter of adjusting the cache setting to your Web browser. Try the following:

For Internet Explorer:

  • Click on View and select Internet Options
  • From the 'Temporary Internet Files,' click on Settings
  • Increase the 'Amount of Disk Space to Use' to 100 Mb or more
  • Click OK

For Netscape:

  • Click on Edit and select Preferences
  • Choose 'Advanced,' then 'Cache'
  • Increase the Memory Cache and Disk Cache
  • Click OK

4. When a firm prints a paper copy of the new Form U-4, there is not enough room for the entire residential and work history. What should the firm do?

The firm should print another copy of the employment and residential sections and attach these sections to the Form U-4.

5. Why do some sections of the blank Form U-4 in CRD print within the regular margins and some sections are cut off on the right side?

The following sections are cut off:

1. General Information
6. Registration Requests with Affiliated Firms
9. Identifying Information/Name Change
10. Other Names
11. Residential History
12. Employment History
13. Other Business

The firm should print the PDF version of the form from www.FINRA.com, and select the "print" option from the File menu rather than using the Printer Friendly icon. Alternatively, the firm can print the form from CRD in "landscape," mode, however the number of pages number will increase from 32 to 38 pages. To do so:

Click on Blank Form on the Web CRD Site Map
Right mouse click on the "open" blank form
Select "Print"
Select the "Layout" tab
Click "Landscape"
Click the "Print" button

6. How can I print my ADV?

From "View Organization," click on "Filing History." Select the filing ID you want to print. When the new window opens, select "View By Pages," then "All Pages," and then click on the printer icon located on the top right corner. The print window will display. Select 'Print.'
